Back from Vacation...

Hello everyone,

We hope you had a great vacation! We are back and eager to continue with all our plans. We have incomporated a few more services to our company, which we will oficially introduce to you soon.

I want to share something I received and that I think is worth posting in this blog because it reflects what FashionUP is trying to redefine about consumer fashion...

Have a great day!

¨Are there any real fashion designers out there that are not celebrities? I remember when saying you wanted to be a fashion designer was something unique. What celebrities are doing to the independent fashion designer, is what the reality show did to the struggling actor... ...Has fashion become something just to be packaged and stamped with a name? Are you wearing fashion or is fashion really wearing you?Has society become so robotic that we will buy anything that is backed by a celebrity? I would like to think the answer is NO!"

Kaann started building her portfolio with product styling and interior design with clients nationally and internationally.

Through her continued work as an interior designer, Kaann wanted more, which lead her to pursue another path in the industry. Her creativity and eye for fashion lead her into the world of modeling. Rachel Arthur Stylist

We want to welcome our new FashionUP Stylist from the UK Rachel Arthur.

"I pride myself in being able to dress women ideally for their shape and colouring no matter what the occasion may be"

Rachel Arthur, London, Cardiff and Hampshire

Visit my FashionUP web page

My name is Rachel. I graduated with First Class Honours in BA Fashion Management from the London College of Fashion. I have since been working as a freelance fashion journalist and stylist. I have worked for South African FHM and Heat magazines, have been a contributing Fashion Editor to Bulb, a youth global issues magazine, and also had extensive work experience in the fashion departments of British Vogue, Grazia and the Daily Telegraph.
I pride myself in being able to dress women ideally for their shape and colouring no matter what the occasion may be. Being able to work for FashionUP and deal with real women rather than magazine ideals is truly what I find inspiring.

I was astounded by this website when I came across it for it’s truly outstanding concept. I love that it is so different from other styling agencies as you actually work specifically with designers to create individual garments for the client, rather than trawling around the shops for run of the mill outfits. This is the exact kind of work I have wanted to get into for a long time. I would love to be offered the opportunity to work with real women, helping them create a look for life, helping them to find themselves through their clothes, rather than working in a situation where I style a look for the sake of one photoshoot.

Our first TV show appearance

FashionUP was invited to a TV show called Desseny (design) on Comtal 24 Television Station in Barcelona last month where Miriam Morera, presenter of the show, asked us about the FashionUP movement and about personal fashion styling.

In the show we were also invited to host a FashionUP Party on the TV station next fall. It was a great experience and great exposure for us.

I would like to ask all our active stylists to go to a local TV station in their cities and talk to them about FashionUP and to possibly get interviewed there. (It works) Being in a local TV station is just the beginning, next step is to come out in National Television, and the way we are going I’m sure this will happen soon.

I want to thank Silvia Gallardo our Associate FashionUP stylist for getting us this interview.

¨My styling approach is always based on clear communication and a enthusiastic attitude ¨

Hi I'm studying womenswear for three years in college was the most exciting thing I ever have achieved so far. By expanding my knowledge and appreciation of clothes, I realised how people can communicate through their appearance and how fashion is the most effective tool for showing identity. However, only by designing garment, there was certain limitation to expressing my point of view. Then, I started to take the idea of styling more seriously and found it very exciting. Through communicating with designers and other aspects of fashion industry, styling became a perfect way of exploring my enthusiasm and love for fashion.

After working for various stylists as an assistant, I have accomplished skill for organising and communicating in fashion shoot, video clip, beauty shoot, staging, fashion show and so on. Also while I was experiencing all these, I prepared my own portfolio to take things further. And I think this is the time to move on to next step and found the FashionUP service very inspiring and perfect opportunity to show my dedication to fashion.

After I researched what is fashion up movement and how it works, the effective and daring way of connecting people, designer and stylist made deep impression on me. Specially, I am very intrigued by the idea of helping all different kind of people regardless age and other conditions that normally was overlooked by fashion industry.

My name is Natasha I am originally from St-Petersburg , Russia but I currently live in London . When I was 21 years old I headed straight to Paris where I started working as a model, then an actress, but I have always been passionate and involved in fashion world, didn't really matter where; catwalk, studio, film playground or shopping with a client. I have always felt the desire and the power to do something to help people have a high self esteem and feel confident about themselves; when you look good you feel amazing. I moved to London where I gained my degree in Fashion and Stylist consulting at Aston & Hayes, a prestigious Styling school in the UK . I also have a professional qualification in Woman Clothing Design from Russian Sewing College .

I first started as a personal shopper and style consultant for private clients in London and I also work as a stylist for photo shoots. I still travel around the world where I find the inspiration and where I can replenish my knowledge and expertise. For me there are no rules to looking good but I always keep in mind the three C's of dressing: Choice, Customisation and Couture - choosing clothes that suit you, altering clothes to your personal shape and style and having clothes made especially for you are ways that makes anyone look good and feel great! I have been involved in all these aspects of fashion and image-making and I am happy to advice anyone interested on changing their personal image.

Designer Minha Yoon

We want to welcome our new FashionUP Designer Minha Yoon.

Minha is an extremely talented young designer that currently lives in London. Her designs are wise always seeking perfection in craftsmanship, comfort and flattering silhouettes. Minha enjoys designing and making garments for herself as well as for her friends.

Minha Yoon, London UK

I was born in South Korea and spent the most of my life in California. I’ve always had an interest in drawing and painting- I used to spend my lunch break in high school shut away in the school’s art studio. My love for creating beautiful things developed into interest for fashion. I was eager to study fashion and went for an Associate of Art degree at FIDM in San Francisco, but felt that it didn’t satisfy my desire to become a designer. I left FIDM and came to London, where I study at Central Saint Martins. What attracted me to London as my learning environment is the wealth of culture and its openness to creativity. I enjoy going to concerts- both classical and contemporary. When time allows, I love to travel and learn about new cultures. My favorite destination so far has been Venice, and hope to go back again soon.

FashionUP is an excellent opportunity for both designers and clients; designers to see their creation on real people and for customers to have one-off pieces created only for them. It is definitely an anticipated step forward for the modern fashion industry. It brings the designer’s ideas closer to an individual customer’s requirements and satisfaction.

We were happy to see that they all were excited about becoming part of FashionUP, and we sure will be inviting some of them to join our network. I also want to take this opportunity to thank them for taking their time to meet us and learn more about FashionUP. We are also thankful for Instituto Marangoni´s support, and for inviting us to their Master Graduate Fashion show, which was a success.

Suhaila Sinn Stylist

Welcome our new FashionUP Stylist Suhaila from Köln Germany
"My aim is not only to make you feel comfortable but adorable in your clothes. Your outfit should represent the best of you and even better".

Driven by the power of fashion to be able to individually express oneself, I have always been devoted to fashion styling. Fashion can not only be considered as clothing it is an attitude that one represents and – in the best case – leaves an impression. Thereby creativity, inspiration and passion play a leading role. It is not about putting over fast moving fashion trends, but spotting the essence of them and applying them. Latest runway trends are an essential part of my work, although it is the looks on the streets that revive the trend.

FashionUP's idea is very unique as it gives stylists and designers the chance to directly work together with their clients. For me as a stylist there is no better way to pull clothes as from designers themselves. It is not geographically limited and gives me the opportunity to work from everywhere.

Here is one of my published articles:
Barcelona Reporter

Although fashion a fourth career for me, after being a California lawyer, a school social worker with “at-risk” adolescents, and a programme officer for various United Nations organizations, both in Geneva and Belize, fashion consulting incorporates all the skills I’ve gained in the last twenty years of my working career: diplomacy, communication, and listening skills; however since my twenties, I’ve been telling all my friends and family what to wear --- it’s in my blood. Fashion consulting is not just about clothes; it’s about highlighting the most beautiful qualities we all have in ourselves so that we look and feel better everyday.

Since moving to Barcelona in 2003, I’ve been involved in fashion; first by working at a prominent design school where I was in charge of organizing internal and external fashion shows, fashion events and exhibitions, until I launched my own fashion consulting and personal shopping business in June of 2005 In addition to the business, I am the fashion editor for the local English-speaking newspaper, “Catalonia Today”; I’ve created a “Fashion Savvy or Fashion Faux Pas” page (a mini-fashion consulting assessment of famous local figures) for “Barcelona Reporter”, an online news source, and consistently offer interactive fashion conferences for entrepreneur, women’s, and professional oratory groups.

I was attracted to FashionUP because its unique aim is to bring together fashion stylists from around the world; help promote young designers which is something I’ve always been involved in doing; and insures excellent quality of products and services. It was time an organization like FashionUp came along and I’m happy to be part of the team.

Aysha is a 23 year old Lebanese stylist born with a great passion for fashion.
She has worked as a freelance stylist in Dubai where she currently lives.

I majored in Fashion Design and Marketing in the American University in Dubai. In 1999, I won the first place in the eveningwear category of “Bride 2000- By Swarovski”. I’ve also participated in designing for the customer service category of a leading shopping mall in Dubai and I’ve successfully won the first place. I’ve voluntarily worked at a fashion house in Dubai where I’ve interviewed the customers, designed their outfits, purchased the materials, and supervised the designs’ implementations. I worked as a freelance stylist with Dubai TV in their program and I was assigned to develop the costume designs of several projects such as for the Fairmont Hotel, Peppermint Club, BIOKOSMA and AREEJ cosmetic stores and others.

For the time being, I'm preparing for a fashion show dressing up newly graduating models of Life Model Agency, and Swarovski is sponsoring me with all the crystals. Even though I had some intense experience in styling and knowing that it complements designing, I'd still like to make my career in the latter because the unlimited creativity in the art of clothing appeals to me profoundly.

FashionUP is the first organization that I know of that is trying to establish a world wide network between fashion stylists and designers. It's a great experience of exchanging creative ideas from a variety of rich cultures in addition to extracting the outmost of each participant as a result of the competition among them. In other words, it's a great opportunity for designers and stylists to evolve and for clients to satisfy their demands.
